| LaRavi
from A Gem Am I has been promoting parties in Charlotte for 5 years.
She wanted something special for THE OFFICIAL RIVALRY CLASSIC 2006
AFTERPARTY, so after searching online for lighting companies she
stumbled upon Eye Dialogue’s website. Being one of my first
clients that had not been refered to me from another client, I was
a little nervous about first impressions. My abrupt confident style
of conversation can be a little much for some but LaRavi and I immediately
connected. Both of us in our first 5 years of business, we appreciated
each others directness.
The party was hosted at Grinnell Water Works in
Charlotte, NC. Grinnell
is a new space on Morehead just past I-77. The large warehouse space
contains several prominent businesses visible through large glass
walls in the main foyer. The open trussing systems, tall ceilings,
and modern design create a beautiful space and palette for great
event design.
The reception area in the outer court has walk
ways moving slightly above a small garden area. As attendees were
dropped off at the door, there first impression is of warmth and
fire. Four American DJ Fire Bursts lit the walls with a flame effect
on the two large brick walls. The vegetation in the Garden area
was accented with orange and red hues. The 6 American DJ Par64 LEDs
were hidden underneath the walkway effectively lighting the plants,
each light randomly fluctuating between red and orange. Two ETC
Source 4 Lekos contained custom gobos for the event projecting the
images on the brick walls above the glass door ways. The warmth
of the reception area contrasted with cool blues visible through
the doorway to the main room.
The
party was held in the main foyer area characterized by high ceilings,
tall glass walls, and trussing. The open trussing was treated with
4 triangle stretches of Lycra adding depth by breaking up the space
and providing effective projection areas for the moving lights.
The only projection areas in the room were four large brick sections
on the wall separated by glass walls, and an open entrance. Four
American DJ H2O 250s projected a blue water lighting effect on the
brick giving the room a cool water effect. Four intelligent spots
projected gobo images on the ceiling, lycra, and truss. The fixtures
slowly scanned the ceiling in cool hues of aqua, blue, cyan, and
green. Two CMY moving head washes lit DJ Bro Rabb as he skillfully
mixed hip hop, R&B, Go-Go and Old School Rap. The final touch
was a video projector and screen displaying over a hundred of images
from the events of A Gem Am I.
The Official Rivalry Classic 2006 afterparty and
A Gem Am I’s Fifth Year Anniversary Celebration promoted by
The A List (www.alistnc.com), LK Productions (www.alwaysintheknow.com),
and A Gem Am I (www.agemami.com) brought two schools together for
a great event. Both the alumni of NC A&T and SC State partied
the night away to DJ Bro Rabb. The building management weas so impressed
with the event they ask to use pictures from the night to promote
the building. A Gem Am I’s vision for the event made a lasting
impression on everyone in attendance. Eye Dialogue appreciated the
opportunity to help make A Gem Am I’s event a success.
